Jackson and Eileen Frater
Jackson and Eileen run the Queens Guest House in Ayr situated 100 metres from Ayr Beach. Jackson has been running the guesthouse now for 16 years and we have both loved meeting the amazing people who come to stay with us and the many who continue to return year on year. (Update) After we headed to Barra in July 2018 for our #Barragapyear the guest house which on the market for over a year, SOLD! in October 2018, so we bought a small 2 bedroom house in Doonfoot suburbia which our son Adam moved into and looks after…..how things change so quickly.
As we hurtle towards semi retirement, we are starting to plan our four year countdown to moving to the Outer Hebrides in the next four to five years. In the meantime we got an amazing opportunity of living on Barra for a year, starting July 2018, which meant juggling of guest house work (no longer!!) and redefining my role with Prancing Jack Productions to editor and producer. So here's the start of the journey, thanks to Bill Ryder (for the wonderful photograph) and Carol for waving me off at Oban on 12th July.
So we (Eileen, Mum & Dad joining me for my first weekend) set sail from Oban on the Isle of Lewis for the start of the #Barragapyear
